For those of you who are still searching for that "holy grail" makeup remover, I'd like to share my thoughts on 2 of my favorites.
First, the Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes, & Lips
First, the Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes, & Lips
*A little goes a long for this product, you only need a tiny amount and it will remove most of your eye makeup.
*Super gentle - no stinging when it gets into your eyes.
*No clouding after you use it on your lids. (Clouding for those of you who are unfamilar, is when your eyes get kind of foggy, some remover formulas have this after effect)
*I give this a 4/5 stars in terms of removing stubborn waterproof mascara (pretty darn effective).

Next, MAC Gently Off Eye & Lip Makeup Remover
*Almost identical to the Clinique remover with the exception that I feel this is a less oily formula.
*It is a bit pricier than the Clinique and for less product (4.2oz vs. 3.4oz)
*3.8/5 stars for effectiveness against waterproof mascara (yes 3.8 cuz its just takes a teenie bit more effort than the Clinique)
*Gentle formula that does not irritate eyes & no clouding after effect

Final Thoughts: I love both of these, the only advantage that I personally experienced with the MAC remover is the less oily formula leaving the eyelid area feeling more "fresh & clean". Clinique's advantage is the larger amount in the product & saved me a little bit of effort in taking off waterproof mascara.
(I personally prefer to invest a little more in makeup removers because most drugstore removers sting & irritate my eyes and takes me a while of rubbing before I can remove my waterproof mascara.)

thanks for this review! and also for your comment on my blog XD I think I should get myself the Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover cuz I have problem removing waterproof mascara >.<
ReplyDeleteHaha don't you wish they just had the best of both worlds, just one amazing remover that feels fresh and clean, less oily and does not have the cloudy thing :) I know I do. :)
ReplyDeleteI usually use biphase makeup removers, they work pretty well.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I don't mind the oiliness actually, I usually wash my face right after the makeup remover step.
What I love about the Clinique one is it doesn't blur my eyes and its very gentle and does the job removing mascara and liners :D
